Fans are calling 'Sojourn' the worst episode of 'American Horror Story' so far

After an incredible season, the eighth episode of 'American Horror Story: Apocalypse' didn't quite impress the fans - and it's now being called the worst episode so far.

As American Horror Story: Apocalypse edges closer and closer to the final episode, the stakes are getting higher and higher and fans are expecting huge twists. The eighth episode, titled 'Sojourn', aired on Wednesday (Oct 31) and as always, long time viewers had big expectations for the legendary Halloween episode - especially since, ya know, it aired on Halloween.

But that wasn't the case. In fact, fans are now saying that 'Sojourn' was the worst episode of the otherwise incredible season, and maybe even one of the worst of all time.

The episode, which detailed how Michael Langdon was recognised as the Antichrist by the satanic church, how he came to find The Cooperative and how Ms Mead was brought back as a robot, seemed to lack in any real progression within the already dragged out flashback sequence. But while it was definitely the weakest episode of the season, was it really one of the worst of all time? (No, is the short answer.)

Fans of the show have been taking to Twitter to express their disappointment in the episode. While it was interesting (and necessary) to learn more about Michael's history and ascent (descent?!) to satanic power as the Antichrist, the general consensus is that they really didn't need to spend a whole episode on it, considering the season is already incredibly short and there's so much more important stuff that hasn't been addressed.

Yeah, we can all agree that 'Sojourn' was the weakest episode of the season so far but it was also needed for the overall arc of the season to make sense.

Every TV show has that one episode that throws off an otherwise brilliant season. Remember in Stranger Things season 2? Fans absolutely hated episode 7 ('The Lost Sister'). That's exactly what 'Sojourn' is to Apocalypse and sometimes kids, we've just gotta deal with those filler episodes for the greater good of the story.

The fans do have a point, though... We've only got a few more episodes left and we're still watching flashbacks that took place years before the bomb.

That's only a couple of episodes to explain all these unanswered questions: How did Michael kill the witches? How did they all come back to life if they're all dead? Who is Mallory and why is she so important? How and why did Cordelia place her and Coco under a spell? Was Dinah under a spell too? How does she know Michael? How did the bombs drop? Why did he choose nuclear bombs? Who actually are The Cooperative? Where did Misty Day go? What is happening in the bunker in the present day? Why were Emily and Timothy so important in the first place? How is it possible that Billie Dean was able to visit the Hotel Cortez in 2022, when the BOMB WENT OFF AND DESTROYED THE WORLD IN 2019?

By the looks of things, we'll learn how Michael destroyed the Coven and how they came back to life in the next episode ('Fire and Reign'). Is there enough time to bring us up to speed, fix that damn timeline error and answer all the unanswered questions that still remain. Can it be done? Here's hoping.

Oh and by the way, the worst episode of AHS? Don't be stupid. Nothing will ever be as bad as Cult's 'Valerie Solanas Died For Your Sins, Scumbag'. I SAID WHAT I SAID.
