'American Horror Story' fans think Ryan Murphy just confirmed Angela Bassett is back

Will the award-winning actress reprise her iconic role of Marie Laveau in the 'Apocalypse' season finale?
It's hard to believe it but there is just one episode left of season 8 of American Horror Story. Over the course of the past nine weeks, Apocalypse has blessed us with everything from the return of some of our favourite Coven witches (Cordelia, Myrtle, Madison etc.) to the rise of the Antichrist (people are thirsting over Michael Langdon). And it wouldn't be AHS without an explicit Evan Peters sex scene.
That's not all though. The series has also given us a brand new supreme (Mallory is that bitch) and taken us back to the one and only Murder House (Constance Langdon is also that bitch). Nonetheless, some aspects of Apocalypse haven't been so well received. People did not enjoy last week's episode and fans were disappointed to hear that Angela Bassett would not be part of this season.
However, it looks like Ryan Murphy has been tricking us all this time. Angela Bassett is almost definitely back.
FX premiered the trailer for the Apocalypse season finale after last night's episode and it's a blink and you'll miss it moment but it looks like Angela is right there reprising her iconic role of Marie Laveau. In one of the stills, you can see a woman who looks identical to Marie from the back standing in front of Adina Porter as Dinah (Marie's successor as the Voodoo queen) with Michael Langdon behind them.

If that weren't confirmation enough, Ryan took to Instagram last night to seemingly tease that Angela will return to the show in next week's episode. To top it all off, it seems like Jessica Lange may be returning as Fiona Goode and Kathy Bates may be playing Madam LaLaurie again. The hit show runner posted a photo of the three legends alongside the caption "They Know What They Need To Do".
Praise Michael. We are going to the afterlife and back. Of course, Ryan could be referring to the fact that Kathy and Jessica are playing Ms. Meade and Constance in the finale but it seems possible that we could be getting extra Fiona and Delphine content too. Why else share this photo? Regardless, it looks certain that Angela is returning as Marie and we couldn't be happier.
Still, Ryan could have featured Angela much more heavily in this season (she is one of the greatest actresses of all time) but we'll save that argument for another time.
