Netflix has officially renewed Elite for a third season and here's what we know about it so far.

It's official. Elite season 3 is coming to Netflix and we couldn't be more excited to see it.

Ever since Netflix released the first season of Elite in 2018, we've been obsessed with it. As soon as the show starts, we find out that a student (Marina) at the Spanish high school Las Encinas has been killed and the series then cuts between scenes before the murder and current police interrogations with classmates to find out who did it. Season 2 adds to the drama by focusing on the wrongful arrest of Nano and adds three new students to the mix.

When is the Elite season 3 release date?

Last year (Aug 29), Variety reported that Netflix had renewed Elite for a third season ahead of its season 2 release date. The publication revealed that Diego Avalos, the director of Netflix originals in Spain, confirmed that Elite season 3 is already in the works at a Netflix conference in Madrid.

Netflix has since confirmed that Elite season 3 will drop March 2020, which is much earlier than previous seasons. Seasons 1 and 2 of the show were released in October 2018 and September 2019 respectively.

Who will be in the Elite season 3 cast?

Again there is currently no official confirmation as to who will star in Elite season 3 but we think that all of the main cast who are still alive will return. Depending on how season 2 ends, we'll see Samuel (Itzan Escamilla), Guzmán (Miguel Bernardeau), Lu (Danna Paola), Polo (Álvaro Rico), Carla (Ester Expósito), Nadia (Mina El Hammani), Ander (Arón Piper), Omar (Omar Shana), Christian (Miguel Herrán) and Nano (Jaime Lorente) all back.

We imagine that season 2 additions Rebeca (Claudia Salas), a fashionable working class school girl, Valerio (Jorge López), Lu's hedonistic half-brother, and Cayetana (Georgina Amorós), a social media star with more than 39,000 Instagram followers, will all come back too, along with some new cast mates ready to stir up even more drama.

What will happen in Elite season 3?

Again this all depends on how season 2 wraps up. According to Variety, Elite creator Darío Madrona has said that the show will keep its "fast-forward formula as a staple of the series" so we'll likely see another mystery be teased out via numerous flashbacks. Essentially, all of our faves are in danger.

It also looks like there will be a step-up in budget. Describing season 2, Madrona's co-creator Carlos Montero said: “I don’t know how much more money the series cost but I have the sense the series achieved a leap in quality". Season 3 will likely build on that.

We'll let you know as soon as theories, spoilers and news materialise.

Is there an Elite season 3 trailer yet?

Currently there isn't a trailer for the third season of Elite but we shall update you as soon as there is.
