Paramore Reveal The Emotional Meaning Of "Rose-Colored Boy"

They posted a series of heartfelt tweets about the song's message
When Paramore released the video for “Rose-Colored Boy” earlier this year, from their 2017 album After Laughter, there were tons of hidden messages for fans to decipher.
Now, Paramore have taken to Twitter to explain the meaning behind the single’s lyrics.
Rose-Colored Boy is a song about feeling pressured to look at the world with blind optimism when you actually feel very hopeless about the world & your part in it. there is so much social pressure to be (or appear to be) “happy” that we can actually feel shame when we aren’t. 1/3 pic.twitter.com/STiu3U44eZ

All of After Laughter is about finding happiness after pain and owning your sadness, and “Rose-Colored Boy” is no different.
In a series of three tweets, the band addressed the heartfelt message behind the song.“Rose-Colored Boy is a song about feeling pressured to look at the world with blind optimism when you actually feel very hopeless about the world & your part in it”, they wrote.
"Adding shame to sadness is a pretty toxic cocktail” and in the third tweet, "It’s important & more healing to meet people where they’re at - EMPATHY - than to try & paint everything rosy."
